Library Media Program

The Hutchens Elementary Library Media Center uses Destiny as it's automated management system. Destiny may be accessed from any computer throughout the school. We provide open access to all students.

Books are checked out for two weeks. No books are checked out to students who have overdue books. No fines are charged for overdue books, however, students must pay to replace lost or damaged books.

The library has a combination of fixed classes, as well as daily open flexible check-out time for all students. Additionally, e-books are available by pressing the ABDO button. The user name is hutchens and the password is ebooks.

Collaborative planning between the classroom teacher and the Library Media Specialist is important to the learning process. The Library Media Center serves as an extension of the classroom. Teachers may accompany their class to the Media Center at any time during the school day to do research. Collaborative planning allows students a chance to gain knowledge through varied learning opportunities.
